While a gala tonight in Houston to raise money for the foundation set up by a local military hero is sold out, several of his high school friends are working so local residents can help the cause.

The Lone Survivor Foundation, created by Navy Seal and hometown hero Marcus Luttrell, will get its official kickoff at tonight’s gala at Union Station at Minute Maid Park. Proceeds will go toward buying a ranch to create a safe haven for returning combat veterans and their families to relax and heal, according to lonesurvivorfoundation.org.

  1. My friends attended the Lone Survivor Foundation event last Saturday in Houston. Where can I find out about upcoming events, sponsorship and tickets? Marcus’ story is amazing. While reading the book I kept thinking “this would make a great movie”. So glad it will happen and all for such a great cause.
