As of January, 2012, three cast members have been confirmed….Taylor Kitsch, Tommy O’Reilly and Matt Christopher Sutherland
Kitsch is best known for portraying Tim Riggins on the NBC series “Friday Night Lights. He also starred in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and will be starring in Lone Survivor director Peter Berg’s upcoming movie, “Battleship”.
It has yet to be determined which of the four SEALs Kitsch will portray but the guess here is that he will play the role of Danny Dietz. To learn more about Dietz you can read my interview with his parents or my interview with his wife Maria Dietz.
Lone Survivor will be Sutherland’s first movie role and he appears to bear a resemblance to former SEAL Shane Patton so it would seem to be likely that’s the role he’ll assume. Up to now Sutherland’s entire career has been on the New York stage winning awards both for his Broadway and Off-Broadway performances. He is attached to several film projects and an upcoming television pilot order. Matt is also a co-founder of SuVen Entertainment, a new hybrid production company.
Tommy O’Reilly is also somewhat of a newcomer to the industry but with his French-Canadian background and resemblance to former SEAL Jacques Fontan that could be the role he’s targeted for.
