Code Name: Geronimo

Code Name: Geronimo is one of two films planned for 2012 release that deals with the SEAL Team 6 raid that killed terrorist Osama Bin Laden at his hideout in Pakistan.

Unlike Kathryn Bigelow’s yet-to-be titled movie on the subject, Code Name: Geronimo, which was written by Kendall Lampkin and directed by John Stockwell, will focus on the SEALs themselves and the weeks leading up to and including the raid itself. Bigelow’s version reportedly focuses more on the CIA’s search for Bin Laden.

Variety reports that  Anson Mount (AMC’s Hell on Wheels), Cam Gigandet (Twilight), Freddy Rodriguez (Planet Terror), XzibitKenneth Miller, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Robert Knepper, Kathleen Robertson and William Fichtner (Black Hawk Down) are set to star in Code Name: Geronimo.

Gigandet, Knepper, Mount, Rodríguez, Xzibit and Miller will compose the SEAL team while Fichtner, Robertson and Thomas will portray CIA operatives.

Code Name: Geronimo, which doesn’t have a release date yet, is currently filming in New Mexico.

We’ll have updates as more information becomes available.
