“Act of Valor,” is a film that features real-life U.S. Navy SEALs in starring roles.
Directed by Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh of Bandido Brothers Production with a screenplay by Kurt Johnstad, the screenwriter for 300, the movie will follow a group of active-duty Navy SEALs on a fictional mission to rescue a CIA agent. During the mission a terrorist plot against the U.S. is discovered.
Actors starring in the film include Alex Veadov, Rosalyn Sanchez, Nestor Serrano, Emilio Rivera. None of the SEALs’ names will appear in the credits of the film.
The movie started out mainly as a recruitment vehicle when Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh filmed a video for the Naval Special Warfare Command but it turned into a full-length feature film when the Navy allowed active-duty Navy SEALs to participate in the project. The Navy had final say on what made it to the screen, so as not to reveal any sensitive information or tactics.
Most of the filming took place in Cambodia but other locations included San Diego, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Florida. Navy training sites were also used to provide realistic settings, such as a drug cartel base, a terrorist camp on an isolated island, and a smuggler’s yacht.
“Act of Valor” is set to be released Feb. 17, 2012. Visit the official website for the movie.
