If Mark Wahlberg signs on to star in the Lone Survivor Movie as reports indicate should he portray Marcus Luttrell or Michael Murphy, or do you think he shouldn’t be in the movie at all? A recent poll (pre-wahlberg) on LoneSurvivor.net had voters narrowly selecting Jim Caviezel over Ryan Reynolds to star as Marcus Luttrell. But what about Wahlberg? Is he better suited for the role of Luttrell or Murphy?

Well, I had to laugh at the prospect of Wahlberg playing 6’5″ Marcus Luttrell. You’d have to cast midgets for the rest of the people!!! LOL
I can see Wahlberg playing a good SEAL, but he’s is going to have to portray Murph the way he truly was, a couragous, patriotic hero, honor through and through, which will be very difficult. Any of the roles in this movie will be very delicate to portray, seeing as it is a very recent and true story, it will be so important to everyone that these men are shown as the brave, tough, kick-ass warriors they were.

I tink that Matt Damon should play Marcus. He did such a great job in Green Zone!
Forget Damon,He’s an empty suit. I would rather see an unknown actor portray Marcus than some Lib Hollywooder. I dont think I could seperate the two.
I think Alex O’loughlin should be considered for the role. He is the right age and height and I think he could do the portrayal with the respect it deserves!
It would be difficult if not impossible for Marky Mark to play a real hero.
I think Leo DiCaprio should play Marcus. He was amazing in Body of Lies and think hed be perfect for the role
Ever since I first read the book, when it first came out, I hoped a movie would be made and that Mark Wahlberg would play Marcus. There is none other that would do it justice. “The Shooter” is evidence that this is the guy to do the job.

they should have REAL navy SEALs as the actors likein Act of Valor, there’s no way in hell that anyone can portray a SEAL, his build, look in his eyes, combat movement, and overall persona.
Have heard rumors of Walhberg for past few years. NO> I agree that an active Navy Seal wld be best choice. Also, after seeing Ben Affleck in ARGO – Ben would be good choice. Also JOSH Duhmur(?) (Fergie’s husband)

I have been extremely excited about this movie going on three years now. Loved the book, I was very excited when I saw Berg was the director. But I got to say, Wahlberg is alright for what he does but I was super deflated when I saw he is being considered for the role of Luttrell. I was picturing someone like Sam worthington(Avatar, Clash of the Titans). And after seeing Act of Valor I also like the idea of using real S.E.A.L.’s.

i like wahlberg but definitely not playing luttrell or murphy. luttrell is a beast of a man and from texas. murphy wasn’t even 30…i loved the book and i would be very disappointed to see wahlberg play marcus luttrell and don’t think it would be great for him to play mike murphy either.
I think that some actors from ‘The Unit’ on CBS would fit great. They have acted as a soldier before.
Granted you have to attach a big name to get a movie made but Wahlberg? The “height thing” isn’t a problem since you can cheat that with camera angles. The issue is that he just can’t act. His ‘clueless naivety’ style of acting was perfect in boogie nights but terrible for everything else. I can totally picture SNL’s Sandberg re-inacting Wahlberg in this movie: “Hey goat. Whatchya doin? You’re not tryin’ to give away our position are you? Run along now goat. Say ‘hi’ to your mother for me, okay?” I’m so glad that this tale of honor and self-sacrifice is being told to a larger audience, but so disappointed that they’re entrusting HIM to bring it to life. It should have been Bana.
THE OTHER 2 CHOICES IS GOOD EXCEPT BEN FOSTER AND EMILIY , WHICH DOESNT FIT…JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE WOULD BE A BETTER AXE …IN MY OPINION LUCAS BLACK SHOULD HAVE DEFINATELY BEEN DANNY DIETZ…EMILY IS A VERY BAD CHOICE…
Wahlberg should play Mike Murphy.
Ryan Reynolds should play Marcus Luttrell.
(Caviezel should play something just because he’s so handsome & tough as nails.)
I love Wahlberg, hes done a lot of movies that proves enough how good he is on his craft, I find it odd however that hes going to portray Luttrell in the movie, considering the mans a freaking giant and Mark on the other hand looks completely midget compared to Luttrell. But I trust the director, i know he wouldnt choose someone if he thinks doesnt have the capability of portraying the role. My options however, were Josh Duhamel or Alex 0′loughlin for Marcus’ character. Theyre I think the best men for the role!
