Cordell and Donna Axelson are the parents of Navy SEAL Matthew Axelson who was killed in action on June 28, 2005 during Operation Redwing. They reside in Cupertino, Ca. This phone interview was conducted on May 12, 2010.
LSN: What was he like as a child? What kind of hobbies and interests did he have growing up?
DA: He was involved in a lot of sports. He did the typical things that kids do. He played soccer, little league, basketball. In high school he was on the golf team. He downhill skied in the winter, he had a mountain bike, he was on the swim team and he played tennis….you know, those kind of California things.
